Homefield have been learning about the heart in many different ways!

This week Homefield pupils have been learning all about how the heart works. In Year 6, they have been dissecting sheep hearts , as part of their circulatory system Science topic. It was great to see all of the pupils enjoying themselves, whilst learning so much. It is also another contribution towards our Primary Science Quality Mark.

Exercise has been another way pupils have been keeping their hearts in the spotlight and much healthier by completing the morning mile, taking on Joe Wicks in P.E. fitness, competing in Key Steps Gymnastics and taking part in Bikeability sessions. I truly hope the children have enjoyed these outlets.

I am so proud of all the gymnasts for their efforts at Ormiston Venture Academy and it was a real privilege to learn that the Years 3 and 4 pupils had won against six other schools. This is a fabulous achievement.

Attendance was won by Year 4 with 100%. Keep this up please. Sadly, Year 6 dropped to 90%, which in such an important year group could prove detrimental to a child's final attainment. On this point, I would also like to strongly encourage all parents to be open and honest with us about when they are taking their children on holidays by filling in the appropriate form. Recently, we have received reliable information that children are actually on holiday, when parents have informed us their children are ill. If this is the case, the absence will be unauthorised and evidence from a medical professional will need to be sought to prove the illness.

Harriers won this week's House Points. It is a very close race at the moment.

Next week, the parents' evening sign up sheets will be available for you to book your ten minute slot. If the sessions are likely to be longer than ten minutes, teachers will arrange another date to speak to you more at length, as we wish to be courteous to other parents and remain on time.

We also have our PTA disco on Tuesday 5th February and the EYFS Funky Fingers Workshop on Wednesday 6th February at 2:30PM. Year 6 are going to visit Lynn Grove to experience The Greatest Show production too.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
