School Closes for Coronavirus!

In this section...

School closes down to reduce spread of Covid-19!

Well I never thought I would have to write that headline as a Headteacher.

Despite being a little premature, it was a real highlight to see the Headteacher Award winners take their certificates and golden badges today: a day when we all needed a lift from the despair of closure. I was also pleased to read some lovely messages of gratitude from parents for the efforts my staff have been making in preparing for the closure. They are never expected, but they are wholeheartedly appreciated. Thank you also for your continued support and understanding.

Children may be anxious about this closure and all they have heard in the media, but staff have reassured them as best they can and I have encouraged them to engage in the work set online for them by the teachers, so that they can continue their studies without too much disruption. Year 6 we will see you all again; do not despair!

I appreciate there will be distractions at home, but parents, if you wish your child to maintain their education, we need you to ensure they have a rigorous working day during the week with the expectation that work set is completed. Staff will wish to see evidence of this on their return.

Please read the letters we have prepared for you in the last couple of days and complete the online Google survey to help us collate whether parents are key workers or not.

I have no doubt things will change over the coming weeks, but we are doing the best we can to adhere to all Government guidance. Some of this may or may not suit or please you, but during such challenging times we all have to accept the situation and the fact that difficult decisions need to be made for the safety of all and the battle against this disease.

Please stay in contact with the school, if you require any further assistance because we are still here to help.

I wish you and your families the safest of times together at home. Please adhere to advice from the Government and have hope, like I have, that things will settle swiftly.
