New sport leaves a really sweet taste in the mouth!
This week seems to have flown by and although the sun has been shining the breeze has kept things cool.
Our re-launched campaign to increase the amount of reading in the school saw Reception and Year 4 tie with 21 pupils reading at least 5 times in the week. Reception have made the most progress with this, increasing from single figures the week before. We understand with the allure of technology children may be reluctant to pick up a book and read, but the benefits of reading ten minutes a day are vast as they are exposed to wider vocabulary, differing styles and techniques of writing and
Hawkers won this week's House Team Points, with Harriers a close second.
Go Geronimo provided a Tchoukball taster for Years 4, 5 and 6 in order to increase the interest for an after-school club for those year groups later in the term. It was a very popular experience for them and something new we hope the school can learn to excel at. The equipment for this more obscure sport was purchased using Sports' Premium funding. Whilst on the topic of sport, I hope that more of you will sign your children up for the Half-Term Sports' Holiday Club we advertised last week, as this is a great opportunity for your child to keep active during the break.
Just a reminder that next Monday 3rd May is a Bank Holiday and the school will not be open. I am also looking forward to having a new pair of House Captains as Headteachers for the Day. On Wednesday 19th May, the Nursery staff will be hosting a virtual presentation session at 4:00pm. This will be for our new Nursery parents. More information will be sent out about this soon.
Have a restful and safe weekend everyone.
