Just a quick update!!

Reception class are settling into the new rules and routines fantastically!! Please don't worry if your child is coming into school a little sad, as within minutes they are happy and smiling wanting to get busy in the classroom and looking forward to their day ahead!!

Lunchtimes are working well, children trying different foods both hot and cold.  Just a little reminder if your child brings in a home packed lunch to keep it as healthy as possible (no chocolate bars) and not too much food! The children start their lunch at 11.45am and need to be outside no later than 12.30.  We do encourage the children to be as independent as possible, at lunchtime they collect their lunch from the Kitchen counter, carry to their table, with help cut up their food using their knife and folk, once finished clear their own plate and help themselves to their dessert.  At home try to encourage your child to use their knife and folk, they will soon get to grips with it!!

A huge thank you to parents for a great response sending your child to school with a PE kit.  We all got changed and everyone joined in dancing the party song 'Superman', then a few singing/action games.  Once again we all enjoyed ourselves!

Once every four week each class has the privilege of working with Mr Earl in the outdoor woodland area on the school field to conduct Bush Craft outdoor learning activities.  On Tuesday it was Reception class turn.  The class went out for 30 minutes and build Dens using the twigs and branches.  They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and loved talking about the experience back in the classroom.

This week your child should have brought home a Library book.  Our Library day is Monday, so please make sure your child returns the book in their book bag every Monday so they can go to the School Library to change their book.

Homework was sent out on Friday and will continue each and every week.  This term will involve looking at the phonemes (sounds) we have been learning during the week and a letter formation writing activity.  Please encourage your child to hold their pencil correctly to aid their development.  Please ensure Homework is returned to School no later than Wednesday.

Your child may come home with a Reading book towards the end of the week.  The book will have no words, but allows for dialogue to take place about the story/book.  Please share this book with your child and record in the Reading Record Book how your child got on.  We fully understand free time after school can be pretty hectic, but it would be fantastic if your child could be heard read as regular as possible -  aiming for 5 times a week would be brilliant.

Dont forget Friday Morning the School Council are holding a special Macmillian Coffee Morning in the School Hall.  It would be great if you could join and support us and this amazing charity!
