The children have enjoyed spending time in our 'Hindu temple' this week!

The children have loved learning about Diwali this week. This Hindu celebration provides us with a valuable opportunity to learn about different cultures and compare similarities and differences with our Christian values.

We made Rangoli patterns with rice, lentils and pasta, drew Mendhi patterns on hand templates and listened to calming Hindu music on a bluetooth speaker which had water that sprayed up in time with the pulse!

The children had turns in the 'temple' and explored light and dark using torches and battery operated candles. It proved a very calming activity and the children expressed their feelings about the experience, saying:

"It looked soooo pretty in there!"

"I felt happy"

"I wanted to sleep in there"

and my personal favourite, "It feeled like it was my Mum" as they "felt so cosy in there".
