Settling in nicely
Year 1 have been very busy during the previous few weeks since returning from the lovely Sunny Summer holidays and settling in so well! Everyone has acclimatise to our routines and working cooperatively both in the classroom and outside during playtime.
Phonics - All the children are very excited each day when the Phonic Fairy visits and leaves an amazing story for us to share which links to our Phoneme for the day. Hopefully children have been coming home and sharing their learning. Sound cards will be coming home soon, so please check your child's book bag. We are currently revisiting Phase 3 phonemes, diagraphs and trigraphs (sounds) to ensure everyone is much more secure and confident recognising when reading and recalling when writing. After half term we will continue our Phonic journey to Phase 4 and 5.
People of Significants - Florence Nightingale. Thank you for all the parents/family/carers whom visited our Class Museum on Friday the children loved it and we believe from the comments the grown ups did too. If you missed Fridays Class Museum, there will be another very soon showcasing Year 1's Art Topic.
Just a little reminder please try to hear your child read as many times as possible. It doesn't always mean reading the whole book, one or two pages will be find as children need regular practise to make good levels of progress.
Have a lovely week and look forward to reporting on Friday Year 1's events from this week.
