This week we have been very busy doing assessments during our Assessment week - what great progress we have seen - Well done to everyone!
During out English sessions we have been focusing on punctuation using full stops, exclamation marks, question marks and remembering to use capital letters within ours sentence writing. We also had fun dancing to bbc Supermovers Hip hop Gran - Capital letters and full stops. Supermovers has lots of fun, active songs for children to join in with, promoting knowledge and fitness. This can be accessed at home through the BBC sport website.
Maths- we have been counting in 2's, 5's and 10's and applying this knowledge with fun games on the ipads through Topmarks in between numerous assessments.
Phonics - we have learnt the 'ew' (stew) and split diagraph u_e (flute) sounds and compared to the alternative 'oo' (toot) and 'u' (fruit)
History - we have begun our new Topic by comparing ways of living in the past to ways we live today. Mostly focusing upon house hold objects.
Just a reminder that Mrs Carter and Mrs Routledge look forward to meeting Year 1 parents to discuss your child's progress next week either Wednesday 13th Feb or Thursday 14th Feb. There are still spaces free if you have not yet made an appointment. Please ask someone from the Year 1 team.
Have a lovely weekend - fingers crossed for some sunshine!
