Another new week...
Once again we have had a lovely week filled with lots of learning. The children are still improving in showing good responses to our high expectations for year 1, they have been showing some wonderful behaviour and we hope this continues next week. It is important that the children remember that they need to become a little more independent, but this is something we will continue to work on and develop.
English this week has been all based on the story of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? which the children have really enjoyed, with most having learnt most of the words already. They have looked for animals around the playground, and have begun to look at using different verbs within their writing. By Friday they created their own mini books using different verbs for each animal.
Maths this week has been all about comparing different numbers, looking at which is bigger and which is smaller. The children have really developed their understanding of numbers and have now begun to develop their understanding of using the symbols < > and =. They have learnt these by using Charlie the crocodile and that he likes to eat the biggest number 5>1.
We would like to remind children to have their coats in school as the weather is becoming more autumnal and it will get colder. Alongside this, for PE on Thursdays please make sure that the children have something warm that they can wear as we do this outside. Also if we could please ask that you remove any keyrings from their book bags this weekend, although they are lovely, it means that we cannot fit them into their trays.
Once again, thank you for your continued support, and we are always around if you wish to speak to us.
From the Year 1 team.
