Another fun week of learning...
This week has been a busy week, full of learning. On Thursday, it was World Book Day, so as a class we celebrated by talking about books we like and creating our own books, the children really enjoyed this. The children also received a book token and sticker, and we look forward to hearing which books they go onto get.
Maths this week has been focused on our times tables once again. The children are now much more confident in counting in their 2s, 5s and 10s and they can now complete questions involving these. Next week we will be moving onto height and lengths.
English this week has been quite exciting with the children reading the story Jasper's Beanstalk. They have completed lots of different activities based on this book and have been writing their own sentences. They are now much better at remembering the basics of finger spaces, capital letters and full stops, which is great to see.
In topic this week the children have planted beans and we are hoping that they will grow. We will be doing lots of learning around this, which should be very fun and interesting for the children.
If you ever want to complete more work with your children at home (alongside the usual homework and reading), then practising writing in basic sentences with them trying to apply their phonics, is always useful. There are also games online which can be very useful especially for their maths, including a website called Topmarks.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
From the Year 1 team.
