Hello and welcome back. I hope you all had a wonderful half-term break. Here is what is happening over the next few weeks in Year 1...
English: In English we are writing firework poems. We have had lots of fun this week making sparklers, watching videos and thinking of lots of exciting vocabulary to use for in our poems. We even met Grandma Fantastic who has a basket full of words to help us with our writing. Here we are having fun with our sparklers...
We cannot wait to share our finished poems with you in a couple of weeks time!
Maths: In Maths we are working on addition and subtraction. We are working hard to learn our number bonds to 10. Here are some links to some fun games to play to help us remember our number bonds.
Topic: Our first topic this half-term is RE. We are answering the question; What do Christians think God is like? We have so far listened to the parable The Lost Son. Today we made hidden understanding boxes as parables are a special type of story that have a hidden meaning.
Phonics: In our Phonics lessons we will be moving onto our Phase 4 sounds. Phase 4 focuses on consonant blends such as cr, dr, gr etc. There are some great free games on the following two websites.
I have set the children a home learning challenge to complete over the weekend. If you see any fireworks create a picture or write some words down to describe what you could see.
I hope you have a lovely weekend, and we will be back in a couple of weeks to share our firework poems and to tell you what we will be learning for the rest of the half-term.
