Humph indeed! No I'm not grumpy- it's the name of our KS1 Nativity! And Rehearsals are going well. The children sound amazing and it's all coming together nicely for our performance next week! Please make sure all costumes are in on Monday. Any questions, do ask!
We started our RE topic this week and we hope to be able to confidently answer th question: 'Why is Christmas important to Christians?'. We explored the words: advent, old testament, new testament, gospel, nativity and incarnate, so ask your children if they can explain what these words mean. Next week we will be looking at what Christians do to prepare for Christmas and I have challenged the children to find out what an 'advent crown' is. Any child who can come in on Monday and tell me anything about it will receive 10 Team Points!
We have started writing our own instructions in English about 'How to make a Christmas potion'. This Christmas potion will make any Grinch love Christmas! We've come up with lots of great ingredients like bottles of fizzy snow, crushed baubles and chopped pine needles with a sprinkle of love. We will be finishing them off next week, so keep an eye out on the blog for some great pieces of work!
In Maths, we have been using number lines to help us add and subtract and we will be making sure we are really happy knowing how to add and subtract one digit and two digits from two digit numbers next week so we can use this to help us in other areas of Maths. The secret word is adverb and I will give team points to any children who can tell me what it means and give me examples!
Have a great weekend!
