Diaries and News Reports

In this section...

What another great week of learning!

We learned so much about the Great Fire of London this week that we turned into news reporters and imagined we were on TV reporting to the public about what had happened! The children all did such a great job, especially standing up in front of their classmates! Well done, all of you! We also looked at Samuel Pepys diary and thought about how awful all the sights, smells and sounds must have been.

In Maths, we have been finding lots of different ways to make two-digit numbers and different ways to make the same amount of money this week, as well as reading scales with missing numbers. We really seem to have got the hang of it! Next week we will be tackling problems which mean we have to add, subtract or take away and might need more than one calculation. We'll be brilliant, I'm sure!

In English, the children turned into teachers and had to mark my work, checking my spellings and making sure I had all the correct punctuation! This helped them edit their work and we made sure we used these skills when writing a diary entry as one of the characters in the Goldilocks story. We did some 'hot seating' first where the children had to pretend they were the characters and answer questions about their day! Some of the acting was great! The secret word is inferno.

Have a great weekend. I look forward to seeing some of you at the Church on Saturday singing with the choir!
