A sunny end to the half-term!

Well I'm glad the sun has been shining more this week after last week's downpour! We have ended the half-term brilliantly and I am proud of how hard each and every one of the children has worked! I can see them growing and improving and soaking up new learning!

This week, we planned and finished writing our own Little Red Reading Hood stories. The children were very proud of them and gave themselves two stars and a wish - two things they've done well and something they think they need to improve on next time. The children were very mature and responsible about this and I know they will keep working hard!

In maths, we started learning about fractions. We learned that it is similar to division as we are just splitting a whole into equal parts. We learned how to recognise and find a half and a quarter of a shape and how we write a fraction. The top number tells us how many parts we need, and the bottom number tells us how many parts the whole has been split into. We will continue with this after half-term!

We finished our Science topic with a bang, combining it with our PE lesson seeing the effect of exercise on our bodies! We then showed off all we knew about our Animals Including Humans topic with a double-page spread of pictures, facts and information to show our understanding.

After half-term, we will have two sessions of gymnastics on Mondays the 7th and 14th June. Please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and has a pair of non-slip grip socks.

We were one Super Reader down from last week with 16 children being Super Readers this week. Please read over half-term as you will receive team points for every read you do!

If you would also like to practise some maths over half-term, please use Hit the Button. I talked about this in my last blog and it will really help with your child's fluency.

Lastly, have a relaxing half-term break! It is certainly well deserved! I can't wait to see what the children can do in our last half-term in Year 2 as they keep on absorbing so much!
