Welcome back everyone

Hello everyone,

Welcome back after the summer holidays, we hope you had a lovely break. The children have settled in beautifully into year 2, and we are super proud of them. This year they will be having myself-Miss Randell, Mrs Routledge, Miss Hollis and Mrs Simpkins, we are all really looking forward to seeing them grow this year.

Most things will be the same from last year including reading and the superstar readers each week, so please make sure they are reading each day. PE will be on Wednesdays now, so please make sure they come into school wearing full PE kit. We will soon be handing out homework each week again, which will be different worksheets (instead of books), so if the children can please complete this and hand it back into us each week, preferably no later than Wednesday please.

Lessons this year will be quite similar in terms of the subjects we will be teaching, and I will update you on these each week. We will be teaching and recapping phonics each week ready for the upcoming phonics screening the children must complete, so if you could please practise phonics at home that would be great.

The children have settled in well this week, and have already completed some great work, which is fantastic! At the beginning of term it will be a lot of recapping on previous learning, for example maths will be making sure they are secure in lower numbers before moving on.

If you have any questions or worries please do not hesitate to contact us on our emails (the same as last year), we will do our best to help. The first couple of weeks will be settling in and then things will become clearer hopefully anyway.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

From the year 2 team

(sorry if we sometimes call them year 1, old habits)
