A very busy week...
Hope you’ve had a great week so far, we have had a rather busy week this week partly due to supply teachers as Mrs Routledge has not been feeling well. The children have coped well with the changes this week, I have heard good feedback and come back in to a busy, lovely class.
English this week has been based on a new story called The Crow’s Tale. The children seem to enjoy this book and have loved looking at the beautiful illustrations. We have been writing similes in English where we describe something to be like something else e.g. as cold as ice. The children have been really creative with this which is great.
Maths this week has been based on addition, with the children focusing on building their confidence with adding numbers. We have also been practicing bridging ten, the children have found this tricky so we will continue to work on this. They have also looked into using the column method with addition and have gone on to complete some tricky numbers including carrying.
Topic this week has been based on Geography, with the children investigating the area around them. They have been using atlases to find places within the United Kingdom and have gone on to create their own maps of a new school which they really enjoyed.
We also completed some computing this week, with the children searching for specific things using different search tools.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend
From the Year 2 team
