A busy week...

Hello everyone,

Hope you are having a good week and go on to have a lovely weekend too. We have had a brilliant week in year 2, with lots of great learning.

Maths this week has moved onto money and the children have been trying to apply their knowledge of coins and money to different questions and calculations. They have found this fairly tricky, so this is something we are going to continue to work on.

English this week has been continuing their instructions writing. The children have enjoyed this style of text and have completed some good groundwork ready for their final writing next week. They have used interesting adjectives, commas in a list and different verbs.

This week the children have also been completing the normal termly tests which we do in class. These have been quite tricky for the children, but they have done exceptionally well in terms of trying hard to do the best they can do. So a big well done to year 2!

Topic this week has once again been music, with the children continuing to count, dance and sing along to a beat/pulse. All the music this half-term is based around the song ‘Hands, Feet and Heart’, which the children are enjoying. They have also been using chimes to try and play along with the song.

On Thursday we took the time out of class for remembrance day, the children were so thoughtful with this and all took care in being quiet for the 2 minutes of silence. Year 2 also created pretty poppies and a lovely wreath. Thank you for any donations and any poppies bought.

Please keep trying to help your child read each night, it is starting to make a real difference!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

From the Year 2 team
