Happy Half Term!
Well the last six weeks have flown by and I cannot believe that we only have seven and a half weeks left of the school year.
The children have been working very hard this week completing Maths and English assessments. Some super progress has been made and the children tackled them with a positive mindset.
Over the past two weeks the children have been writing persuasive adverts and learning to tell the time to 1 minute intervals. It was great to see many of the children recognising the super progress that they have made.
Our topic last week was computer programming we had great fun using Bee-Bots and a program called Scratch to help us learn about algorithms, de bugging and creating a program. Our topic this week has been all about rocks. Making chocolate rocks was rather fun (even if we didn't get to eat them).
Today we had a lovely morning learning some different tennis skills for our PE enrichment activity. Many of the children expressed an interest in joining a club after our session. Some leaflets will be dropped into school after half term for those children who are interested.
After half term we will finish our topic about rocks and we have our school trip on Wednesday 6th June to launch our Ancient Egypt topic. The children were sent home with a letter today about packing an Egyptian style lunch for our trip if they wish to.
Children have also been sent home with rainbow words and homework to complete over the half term. We have noticed that some children are not remembering all of their rainbow words so it is important that they continue to practise all of them. This week we had 13 Super Readers. The children have been promised a special treat if they are all Super Readers one week.
Dates for the diary:
Monday 4th June swimming (this will be our last practise session).
Wednesday 6th June school trip to Norwich Castle
Monday 25th June swimming (this is when the children will swim their distances).
Have a wonderful half term and we will see you back on the 4th of June!
