Rock Detectives

Who knew rocks could be so exciting? This week we started our first Science topic of the year. Rocks, Soil and Fossils. We have spent the first 2 sessions observing rocks and testing them to see what type of rock they are. Today we learnt that rocks can be classified as sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic. Next week we will be thinking about how these rocks are formed. Based on our learning this week our secret word is rocks.

In English we are continuing with writing to inform as our purpose but we have moved onto biographies. We had great fun writing about Miss Clark's cat Bella and looking at a model text written about a Lego character. Today we focused on using apostrophes for possession.

In Maths we have been focusing on comparing and ordering numbers. Next week will be counting in 50's and then moving on to our addition and subtraction unit.

A text has been sent home this evening as Year 3 Parents Evening will differ from the other classes. The timings and dates will be as follows;

Monday 14th October 3:30-5:30

Tuesday 15th October 3:30-7:00

Wednesday 16th October 3:30-5:30

Sign up sheets will be displayed early next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
