This week in Year 3
We celebrated Harvest this week in school and on Wednesday the school walked to St. Nicholas Church to have a special Harvest assembly with Rev. Martin. We sang the Harvest Samba with Year 4 and other year groups sang songs as well.
Learning continued in class this week with lots of children showing good growth mindset.
Each morning we start the day with reading groups. Each day we have a different activity to complete. Finlay enjoys practicing his handwriting and Taryn enjoys reading the First News newspaper, a special newspaper we have in school which is specifically for children.
In maths we have been learning about subtraction and we have learnt two different ways to take away numbers – a number line and the column method. We may be able to show you if you ask!
In literacy we have continued with work based on Perseus and the Gorgon. On Monday we had to create our own mythical monsters and dangers that Perseus may have seen on his journey to the Gorgon. On Tuesday we had to design our own map, showing the dangers that Perseus faced on his journey. We finished the week retelling the story of Perseus and the Gorgon in our own words.
During the afternoons, we continued with our topic of Spain and we continued looking at Spanish artists. We have worked very hard to recreate a painting by Picasso, Miss Konieczny is very impressed with our art skills. Two examples of our art work can be seen at the top of this blog.
In PE we enjoyed dancing and some photos of this are attached below.
Please remember we have parents evenings next week on Tuesday and Thursday. If you have not already done so please sign up for an appointment.
