Welcome back to our last half term in Year 4.
It is a long term with lots going on, so keep reading the blog for updates.
We have started our Romans project and will continue next week. Ask your child how the Roman Empire started. See if they know. The letter went out this week for our trip to Colchester Castle taking place on Friday 28th June. Thank you to those of you who have already returned the permission slip.
We finished our maths unit on money this week. Our next unit is time.
Similarly in English we have just finished our unit on speeches. We will continue to read our book 'The Accidental Prime Minister.' Our next block is a poetry unit with a theme of nonsense poems. Why not familiarise yourself with 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll to start with.
Swimming is set again for Monday. We will also be starting a gymnastics block with Mr Carr. On the theme of sport, we have a few spaces remaining in the basketball club. It starts on Thursday. We are trying to encourage different children to sign up, by offering new clubs. If your child is reluctant to join after school clubs and you can think of a sport that may interest him/her please let me know.
It was noted that several children returned to school this week without having their full PE kit. The rule is to bring it on a Monday and keep it in school all week. At this time of year we sometimes have extra sports day practise on any day so it is best to have it in school all week.
Have a great weekend. this week's secret word is 'Jabberwocky'.
