Geography Topic Underway

This week's featured photograph shows a group of children attempting a jigsaw of Europe.  They have been busy learning about the countries in the continent of Europe.  They will go on to learn the capital cities and mountain ranges.  I hope you found the knowledge organiser useful.  Please use it as a reference for their learning for the next two weeks.

I have set the class a piece of informal and optional homework.  It's called the 'Flopsy Challenge'. I am rescuing a dog from Greece who will be travelling over land to the UK in December.  Her name is Flopsy. I have asked the children to consider which countries she will travel through to reach us.  Can they name the countries? Which route will she take? It takes 36 hours by road! That's a long way! I have already had one in today; thanks!

In maths we have started to learn about measures, specifically converting between metres and kilometres. Next week we will be learning about perimeter.

In English we have been reading formal letters.  We have looked at elements of letter writing and will continue this next week.

Thank you to those of you who have already returned the request slip for a Christmas dinner on 4th December.  May I remind you that no further requests will be accepted after Monday so please return the slip if your child would like a Christmas dinner.

The secret word is 'Europe'.

Have a great weekend, from Miss Studley and Miss T.
