Springing back into action

New Kurling Club a Big Success

Welcome back to the new half term.  Can you believe we are into the second half of the school year already? It was lovely to see some new faces at the Kurling club this week; especially children who do not usually attend clubs after school. You can see the Kurling club in action in this week's photo.

We have been doing assessments this week so it has been a hard week for everyone but the children have shown great resilience to complete them all.  I will be sending the papers home in due course so you can see ways to support your child. We particularly need some of the children to persevere more with the reading paper to improve their speed and accuracy to find the answers. It will become clearer when I send the papers home.

The efforts with learning the times tables are really paying off.  The time you are spending on TT Rockstars, Maths Framework and other similar programs is helping enormously.  As is the daily 10 in 10 sheets that I send home. Their arithmetic scores were particularly impressive.  Please keep it up.

Since half term a few different children have brought their reading diaries in too.  This is brilliant to see and shows that you are fully supporting your child to develop a love for reading. Finding a few mins a few times a week means so much to your child and their attitude towards learning.

We will be learning more about fractions next week.  Ask your child about our new fractions duck.  This is going to be our secret words this week (fractions duck) as some children have admitted they just scroll down to the bottom to retrieve the word, so now I am going to make you search for it!

In English we will be starting a new unit on Aesop's Fables.

I hope the weather brightens up a bit for the weekend but whatever you do please enjoy,

see you on Monday.
