Level 3 cross-country at Holkham
Firstly, well done to the three children from our class who, along with four other Homefield pupils travelled to Holkham Hall on Wednesday to represent East Norfolk in cross country running. It was a beautiful day for running and Emelia, Esther and Cohen did their best for their team; well done guys!
Thank you to those parents who have now paid the full balance for Kingswood. We have finalised the numbers now and no refunds can now be given. We have received our programme of activities and it is looking like a very exciting mix. Having been twice before, I can confidently say we have a great range of activities this year. I will be holding a meeting for parents in the school hall on Friday 1st May at 2.30pm. If you have any questions before that please come and see me. There is no specialist equipment needed. We always recommend enough warm and suitable clothing as we spend the majority of our time outdoors. Waterproofs are essential, as are comfortable trainers or walking boots. Please check your Parentmail to keep on top of the payments as it all needs to be paid in advance of our departure on May 4th.
Following the recent assessments I will be sending home the papers for you to see. I will start with the reading paper. We have gone through it together since completing the paper. The children can talk through with you what they did. Let them show you how they found their answers in the reading text. Any time you could spend with them would be highly beneficial. Thank you in advance. There is no need to return the paper because we have analysed the scores. Please write in your child's reading diary to let me know how you have got on with it. If you struggle with ways to support your child with their reading, Mr Young has added a reading prompt sheet to the website with some excellent examples of how to use questioning to support their thinking.
Congratulations to Y4 for winning the attendance race this week. We almost got 100%. If we win the whole half term I am trying to arrange a special treat.....(the children know what this will hopefully be). So keep up the excellent attendance!
We have started learning about Aesop's Fables this week. If you get a chance please look some up. I know a few of you already have; thank you.
In maths we have been learning about fractions. I'm really enjoying teaching it so I hope the children are enjoying it too. We have the help from our fraction duck (see him featured in this week's photograph).
The secret word this week is 'responsibility' which ties in with our theme in collective worship.
Have a great weekend
