Words of encouragement are exchanged prompted by World Mental Health Day.

Our featured photo shows our contribution to Mental Health Awareness Day by wearing something yellow.  Thank you to all the children who have already brought in their posters/cards sharing positive messages.  Have a look on the Google classroom for a little task set by me.  We are going to make a display in the classroom.

We have had a super week and it was so lovely to be greeted by sunshine to end the week.

I am beginning to see real improvements across the class, particularly in English. We have been focussing on using powerful verbs.  Ask the children to share some examples with you. Also ask them what the pattern of 3 means.

We will be starting a new topic next week looking at locational geography and focussing on the countries in Europe.  I sent home a knowledge organiser earlier this week.  Please use it to give your child a head start.

As the weather has been so very wet, it is important that children have a pair of shoes/trainers to change into for play time. A spare carrier bag to put them in afterwards would save the mud getting everywhere.

We are delighted to say we have appointed our first captain of one of our class boats. We have an English captain who is proudly wearing a badge and is looking for other class members to appoint to crew her writing boat. Ask your child all about it.  They might ask you who Captain Pugwash is too.

Please continue to sign your child's reading diary each time you hear them read. I am pleased with how many children are showing enjoyment for their reading.  Enjoyment and understanding is key which is why it is so crucial that you continue to discuss the plot with your child.

Thank you for signing up for parent evening. I have written the time and day of your appointment in your child's reading diary. If I am running slightly ahead I may try and ring a few minutes earlier but if you are not there I will ring at our agreed time so don't worry about missing a call.

We have a student in our class called Mrs Smith.  She is working with us on Thursdays and Fridays and is already proving to be an asset to support the children. Thank you Mrs Smith we are grateful for your support.

The secret word is Ooblek.

Have a great weekend
