The recent Headteachers for the Day were tasked with creating a short movie to demonstrate how pupils can apply resilience, perseverance and a growth mindset to everything they are challenged with each day, whether that be class work, homework, sport or simply playing a game with friends.

Our aim is to ensure each child develops these characteristics as they progress through our school and we move them away from having a fixed mindset, a lack of independence and an inability to cope with setback or disappointment.

Since the implementation of the growth mindset initiative, many children have shown such speed in adopting these new skills. This year we launched the academic resilience strand of it and children are being taught to ignore their "Inner Chimp" (the voice of doubt or negativity in our conscience) and persevere towards success.

The link below, shown to the children,  is a video of Derek Redmond who had to show immense levels of perseverance and resilience to overcome personal injury when competing in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.
